Anyone can join!Membership is not restricted to people living in the Balcombe Parish. The tennis season runs from the beginning of April to the end of October. As a member, you are free to play any time of the year if the weather is favourable.
Court Booking On average, we have about 100 members, which means that you should not have a problem getting a tennis court. However, we do not operate a booking system, so you still arrive at the courts on a pot-luck basis. However, if you have arranged a personal training with the coach, you effectively have a booking that will be managed by Advantage Receiver. Note that during school holidays the courts can be busy. Provision has been made in the Club Regulations during weekends and weekday evenings so that seniors have priority over juniors. Non-members who pay the public playing session fees for Monday evening, Tuesday an Saturday afternoons have right-of-play. They need to be able to prove payment and failing that, you as a paid-up club member can show them the way to the court gate. We are thinking about implementing an Internet-based advisory booking system, where a court booking made over the Internet will get priority over players already on the court. Bookings could easily be confirmed at the courts - if challenged - with a mobile telephone using WAP. What do I get for my membership? As a member of the Club, you are entitled to play on the courts year-round (weather permitting) at no further cost. The Club also hosts a number of annual social events. Balcombe Tennis Club is a member of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) which allocates a number of tickets to Wimbledon to us. These tickets are drawn from a hat to a few lucky club members every year. Annual Membership SubscriptionsThe subscriptions for the 2006/2007 season as shown below and include affiliation fees to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). These fees are the lowest in Sussex and help with the upkeep of the courts and the club house.
