Welcome to the new 2009 Season! |
We would like to invite you to renew your subscription for the forthcoming year.
- The good news is that, taking into account the present economic crisis, we have decided to hold subscriptions at the 2008 level this year.
- The bad news is that the clubhouse will have no running water, so no loos, until the insurance claim arising from a burst pipe is sorted and the repair work is carried out. Ultimately the state of the Clubhouse will improve so please bear with us!
You can renew your membership either by:
- Downloading the membership form from the Club’s website,
www.balcombetennisclub.co.uk - You will find it in the Download section
with instructions of where to send the completed membership form to.
- Come along to the courts between 3.30 and 5 pm on Sunday 5th
April to register. Refreshments will be available as will the
opportunity to play! Please extend this invitation to anyone you know
who may be interested in joining the club.
As I am sure you are aware, Balcombe Tennis Club is completely self
reliant for its funding - the only income it has comes in the form of
membership fees and we, the committee, are concerned that we will not
have enough funds to resurface when the courts inevitably come to the
end of their playing life. One painless way of raising funds that we
are aware of is by using the Club website to do your internet
shopping. Simply by accessing and buying from the shop of your
choice’s website through our Club website www.balcombetennisclub.co.uk
(click on ‘Online Shop’ on the main menu), we automatically receive
between £2 and £8 for every £100 spent. It costs you absolutely
nothing and you will be taken directly to the shopping site. If you
have a few minutes, please explore this option, then remember to use it
regularly and help us all keep fees down.
A new padlock will be fitted and the number changed on 5th April.
Look forward to seeing you on 5th April
Tandy Cufley
PS.
A date for your diary - We are planning another informal tournament
(14 years and over), on Sunday 17th May. Entry fee will be a bottle of
wine and these bottles will then be shared between the winners. It
will be organised as doubles but no-one will have a fixed partner so
that it gives everyone the opportunity to play with lots of different
members and hopefully forge links between newer and more established
players for the coming season. Look out for more details nearer the
time.
