Balcombe Tennis 2010-11 GREAT NEWS

The new season is upon us and it is time to renew your membership. After careful consideration the Committee has decided to slash subscription fees to encourage existing members to remain with us and to attract new members. We have seen numbers dwindle over the last few years and feel this move will attract more families to join.

New fees 2010-11 (2009-10)

Family                                £80 (£135)

Adult couple                      £60 (£120)

Single adult                       £40 (£75)

Student/junior £20 (£30)

You can download a subscription form here - please complete it and send it with your cheque to the Membership Secretary, Neil Infield.

Refurbished courts

We feel that by refurbishing the courts now we will extend their playing life and hope that an increase in membership will give us the ability to resurface in 5 years time. The courts have been professionally power washed to get rid of all the moss and any flaking paint and will be repainted as soon as the weather allows hopefully in late April. We have been advised that the courts are usually out of action for only one or two days while this is being done. The timing of when this will be done is very much dependent on the weather and we may get little notice of the date.

Clubhouse

An attempt at tidying up the Clubhouse will be made - e.g. painting the outside and cleaning the inside - as soon as weather permits and willing parties are available. We would welcome help from anyone to do this - please contact Baz on 811839

Padlock

The code is currently 1024 and this will remain until the end of April when it will be reset and you will be notified of the new code. We intend to change the code on a fairly regular basis (advising you by email of each change) to discourage unauthorized use of the courts by non-members. We feel that now membership fees have been reduced there is no excuse for people to use the courts without paying, and that if friends are playing with you on a regular basis they too should join. We have scrapped the joining fee.

Open Day

We will hold an Open Day on Sunday 25th April at 2.00 p.m. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there to play some tennis. Please bring friends along who might be interested in joining. Refreshments will be provided.

Other events

We will be looking to hold a few events during the season weather permitting such as a B-B-Q and friendly tournaments. If you have any ideas about any other types of event that you would like us to consider please let us know.

Here's to an enjoyable and successful season in which, hopefully, we will see our membership increase, and everyone taking advantage of our new courts. Please spread the word that fees have been reduced and membership is open to anyone, whatever their ability, as long as they wear the right footwear!!
