Tournament 2008 this Sunday 11th May |
Balcombe Tennis Club is organising its first 2008 Tournament on the afternoon of Sunday 11th May at 2:30pm
The idea is to have a bit of fun and for new members to meet other players. All members as well as non-members are cordially invited to attent. And of course, all playing levels are welcome.
The rules are simple: It is based on a Round Robin format. Everyone will swap partners at the end of the second game (of which there are 4 to a match) and the number of games you win will be totalled up at the end.
Entrance fee: For seniors: a bottle of Wine, For Junoirs: £2
Winning prizes: Wine for the wining male, Wine for the winning female, Cash prize for the winning Junior
Interested? If you are interested in playing please contact Tandy on 811853 or simply just arrive. We kick off at 2:30pm with a team draw and play will start at 3:00pm. The matches should all have been completed by 5pm. Please bring your own refreshments!
The detailed Rules:
- Each player plays either with or against every other player
- Teams are drawn at random
- Each match comprises 4 games with each player serving once
- To ensure fast and consistent play, no knock-ups are allowed and after each match the players must leave the court immediately to allow the next match to start
- Each game is played in the conventional manner: Love, 15, 30, 40, Advantage
- The first-named team on the scoreboard is the first to serve
- The person named first in the team is the first to serve for that team.
- After 2 games of a match, the player who have served change partners. The other partners then serve in sequence, after which the game is completed.
- Each player scores a point for every game that he wins, no points for losing a game.
- Players keep their own score and ensure that these are correctly enterd after a match on the scoreboard.
- The winners of the tournament is the male, female and junior who has scored the most points.
